Train Rides Museum of Science and Industry Manchester

As you walk to the Power House we pass through a yard where a small platform has been built and train rides using various steam locomotives are given. In this shot a train can be seen waiting to depart.
The museum is on the site of the old Liverpool Rd railway station the original Manchester terminus of the Manchester to Liverpool Railway opened in 1830. This was one of Britain's and indeed the worlds first railways and certainly its first Inter City railway linking two major cities using a scheduled timetable
The train shunts around the old station and goods yard the passenger carriges used are replicas of those used on the Manchester to Liverpool Railway in the early days.

Once you walk into the Power House the smell of oil and steam engines is to die for, as there are very often static steam engines working in the building

But its not all steam
