Examples of normal fares and Derbyshire Wayfarer price

Fares as of November 2012

Please note all prices shown are off peak if you are making these journeys before 9.00 am these savings can not be made also anytime return rail fares are considerably dearer.

Off Peak return rail fare from Sheffield to Burton on Trent 23.90
Derbyshire Wayfarer price 11.10
Saving 12.80

For this to work you would need to be coming back on the same day you went. But if you are coming back on a different day even buying 2 Derbyshire Wayfarers would only cost 22.20 thus still saving you 1.70

Also even though you would probably be on a through train from Sheffield to Burton on Trent as these are quite regular in theory to stay within the rules of the Derbyshire Wayfarer as Sheffield is in South Yorkshire and Burton on Trent is in Staffordshire you would have to get off the train at either Derby or Chesterfield and get straight back on again so your journey was in and out of Derbyshire. That way you would have followed the rules to the letter. A small inconvenience for a saving of 12.80.

Off Peak return rail fare from New Mills to Long Eaton 27.30
Derbyshire Wayfarer price 11.10
Saving 16.20

For this to work you would need to be coming back on the same day you went. But if you are coming back on a different day even buying 2 Derbyshire Wayfarers would only cost 22.20 thus still saving you 5.10
